In Other Words.... Episode 4

This week on Talkin Bout Guts, Our Super Heroes hear some dissapointing news, talk with superman, and start talking about a second topic nobody wants to talk about.

Yes..... I know that last week we said this week would be my story... but we were unable to gather all the audio that we needed to make this episode happen in time, so we changed it up and will be bringing it to you next week. Sorry for the delay with this one.....

Here's the link to the complete article that UOAA President Kristin Knipp wrote for Ostomy Wound Management about forging the Clinitian-Patient-UOAA relationship

Charlie Grotevant has done so much in his life, most of which has come after making the decision to go through with Ostomy surgery. Check out more of Charlie's stories as written by the people at Great Comebacks for when he received the award in 2002

As we mentioned in the episode, Brenda Elsagher is looking for stories about you, your ostomy, and the ones around you that you love. If you have a story for her, please send her an email!

Shamelessly Bringing you Episode 3!!!

This week on Talkin 'Bout Guts, we continue our shameless plugging and name dropping, talk with a great athlete and President of the Board of GYGIG, and talk about a Hotel that confuses us...

As always, if you want to email the show, hit us up at talk@talkinboutguts.com

Today we had the pleasure of talking to Jim Smith, a man running half marathons and riding his bike hundreds of miles despite having UC. He talks a little about how he got involved in Get Your Guts In Gear, and the awareness that they are trying to spread.

We also talked about the Akron Hotel that banned a man for his colostomy bag breaking and soiling the sheets. I am working on finding names and addresses for you, so stayed tuned and I will have that all tomorrow.

Thanks! Keep sending the emails!

Till Next Week...

Episode 2 Coming Right At 'Cha

This week, Our Superheroes try and shamelessly get sponsorship while trying to decide who has the poopiest job and talking a moment to say HI to all their listeners.

If you have a story you want to share, please email us! We want to hear it! talk@talkinboutguts.com

If you want to reach out to either of us individually, please sent us an email

This week we talk with Jay Pacitti, Exiting Executive Director and Founder of Get Your Guts In Gear. He tells us about his diagnosis of Crohn's Disease and what lead to the developement of the rides. Get more information about it here. He also talked about a couple of great websites.
http://www.ibdsucks.com/ helps bring people together that are affected by IBD and Ostomies.
http://www.ibdquilt.org/ generates public awareness for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease including complications such as colon cancer and ostomy. The quilt panels tour and exhibit for education and support. Crafted by and for the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) community, the quilts provide an outlet to express the thoughts and experiences of living with chronic diseases

An update on what something we talked about last week. Lois has made headway in contacting people at Greys Anatomy! She was able to talk to the Cheif Medical Advisor to the show, and really wants to hear from the community about what they got wrong with their 2009 season premier that painted Ostomies in a negative light. Please help Lois and the community out by BLOWING UP the mailboxes for ShondaLand and Mark Gordon. They are both expecting letters and want as much input on what they can do to correct the situation. If you want help in knowing what to send, send us an email.

We are starting to compile story's for an upcoming episode about the real face of IBD, Ostomies, and Colorectal Cancer. Please, if you have a story to share, email us! We would love to talk to you or read your story for others to hear.

Next week, we will be talking with Jim Smith. He lives with UC and has recently ran the Disney Half Marathon, Ridden in multiple distance bicycle events, and is in training for running his first Marathon next year. We will be asking him about his training and how the UC doesn't stop him from making things happen! If you have any questions for him, please email us and let us know.

We also have a few other interviews on the horizon we would love to know what you want to know. First is Rob and Clinton, 2 guys living with IBD and not letting it stop them from Summitting Mt. Everest later this year! Read about what it is that they are doing here. If you have anything that you want to ask them, please email us so we can ask for you.

Until next week!
